Getting Started
What is StoreVitals?
StoreVitals is an automated ecommerce health monitoring tool. We scan your online store for broken links, missing meta tags, slow pages, security issues, accessibility problems, and more — then send you a prioritized report of what to fix.
How does the free scan work?
Enter your store URL on our homepage and we'll crawl up to 20 pages, checking for 20+ health issues across SEO, security, performance, accessibility, and content quality. Results are ready in about 60 seconds. No account required.
Do I need to install anything?
No. StoreVitals works by crawling your store's public pages, just like Google does. There's nothing to install, no code snippets, and no browser extensions. Just paste your URL and go.
Which ecommerce platforms are supported?
StoreVitals works with any ecommerce platform: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Magento/Adobe Commerce, Wix, Volusion, PrestaShop, and any custom-built store. If it has a public URL, we can scan it.
How long does a scan take?
A typical scan takes 30–90 seconds depending on the number of pages and your server response time. We crawl pages in parallel for speed while being respectful of your server resources.
Health Score & Checks
How is the health score calculated?
Your score is 0–100, based on 20 health checks grouped into 5 pillars: SEO, Security, Performance, Accessibility, and Content Quality. Each pillar is scored independently and weighted equally. The scoring uses diminishing returns — fixing critical issues has the biggest impact.
What does StoreVitals check for?
We check for: broken links, missing/broken images, slow pages, missing meta descriptions and titles, missing alt text, mixed content, redirect chains, missing canonical URLs, missing Open Graph tags, missing H1 tags, duplicate titles, oversized images, missing structured data, mobile viewport, HTML lang attribute, security headers (HSTS, CSP, X-Frame-Options, etc.), accessibility issues (form labels, skip navigation, ARIA landmarks), performance hints, favicon, and SSL validation.
What's the difference between critical, warning, and info issues?
Critical issues directly hurt your SEO rankings, security, or conversion rates and should be fixed immediately (e.g., broken links, missing SSL). Warning issues have a moderate impact and should be addressed soon (e.g., missing alt text, slow pages). Info issues are suggestions for best practices (e.g., missing Open Graph tags).
Can I track my score over time?
Yes. On the Pro and Agency plans, every scan is saved and you can view score trends, see what improved or regressed, and compare any two scans side by side. Your dashboard shows a sparkline chart for each store.
Plans & Pricing
Is StoreVitals really free?
Yes. The free plan includes 1 store, monthly automated scans, up to 20 pages per scan, and email reports. No credit card required. You can run unlimited one-off scans from the homepage without even creating an account.
What do I get with the Pro plan?
Pro ($19/month) adds: 3 stores, weekly automated scans, up to 100 pages per scan, Slack/Discord alert notifications, score trend tracking, scan comparison, alert rules, and public status pages for your stores.
What do I get with the Agency plan?
Agency ($49/month) includes: 10 stores, daily automated scans, up to 200 pages per scan, white-label reports (your branding, not ours), REST API access, API keys, and everything in Pro. Built for agencies managing multiple client stores.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time from your Settings page. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current billing period. No lock-in contracts, no cancellation fees.
Do you offer annual billing?
Not yet, but it's on our roadmap. When launched, annual plans will include a discount. Join the waitlist to be notified.
Security & Privacy
Is my store data safe?
Yes. We only crawl public pages — the same pages Google and other search engines already access. We never access your admin panel, customer data, or payment information. Scan results are stored securely in our database with row-level security.
Does scanning affect my store's performance?
No. We crawl respectfully — limiting concurrent requests and adding delays between page fetches. Our scanner behaves like a polite search engine bot. Most store owners don't notice any impact.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete your account and all associated data (stores, scans, webhooks, API keys) from the Settings page. This is a permanent, irreversible action that cascading-deletes everything.
Integrations & Notifications
What notifications does StoreVitals support?
We support email reports (weekly digest + per-scan), Slack messages (using Block Kit formatting), Discord embeds, and generic webhooks (JSON POST to any URL). You can also set up alert rules that notify you when your score drops below a threshold or when new critical issues appear.
How do webhooks work?
Add a webhook URL in Settings, choose the type (Slack, Discord, or Generic), and we'll POST a payload after every scan completes. If a webhook fails 5 consecutive times, it's automatically disabled to prevent noise.
Is there an API?
Yes. Agency plan users get REST API access with API key authentication. You can trigger scans programmatically (POST /api/v1/scan) and retrieve white-label HTML reports (GET /api/v1/report). Full documentation is available at /docs.
Can I share my store's health status publicly?
Yes. Pro and Agency plans can enable a public status page for any store (e.g., /status/my-store). It shows your current score, score history, and recent scan results. Great for transparency with clients or stakeholders.
Troubleshooting
My scan shows 0 pages — what happened?
This usually means your server blocked our crawler. Some hosting providers or CDNs (like Cloudflare) block automated requests. Try scanning again, and if the issue persists, contact us. We can help you whitelist our scanner.
Why does my score seem low?
Most stores score between 40–70 on their first scan. Common culprits are missing security headers (most stores don't have these configured), missing alt text on product images, and missing structured data. The recommendations section of your report shows exactly what to fix, in priority order.
The scan missed some pages on my site.
Free scans check up to 20 pages, Pro checks 100, and Agency checks 200. We crawl by following links from your homepage. If important pages aren't linked from your main navigation, they might not be discovered. Upgrading your plan increases the crawl depth.
